Brass Gear for Kato outrigger length reeler

Older model Kato cranes use a miniature reeler with a gear reduced multi-turn pot to measure outrigger span.

The gear fitted to the pot shaft is of nylon construction with a brass bushing. With age the nylon gear shrinks onto the bushing and eventually splits. (see picture right) The teeth of the gear open and eventually spread to the point that they will no longer mesh.

Until recently the only option was to replace the reeler assembly at high cost.

We now offer a replacement gear, precision machined entirely from brass. (see picture left) The centre bushing is drilled to match the standard 6mm diameter pot shaft.
